Hamster House

This is my entry into #dAKnitters “Knitting or Crocheting on a Budget Contest” - [link]

Everyone is feeling the pinch of the credit crunch, especially us poor students living in cold draughty flats, whereas I can curl up in a blanket to keep cosy, my hamster cant. (Well, she can, but it gets a bit scratchy for all concerned!) So I decided to make her a cosy bed of her own!

As this is a contest all about budget, here are the prices of the following items used for this:

Pet Heaven, the animal accessory book by Sally Muir and Joanna Osborne - 50p (Its not the full version, but it has the only pattern I wanted. Yeah to charity shops!)

3.75mm straight needles - well there was a great bargain of 40+ pairs of needles, with some extra DPN's, a couple of crochet hooks and an adorable red kitty knitting bag for £10 so...20p a pair of needles?

Scrap wool - technically nothing, I get paid to knit bootees for a baby-scanning company, they supply me with the wool and ribbon, and the scraps are all the leftovers I gather from cutting the CO + BO edges, as well as the scraps from sewing them up. I'm a really bad hoarder which is why I collected them all instead of throwing them out...but they finally served their purpose!

Total cost - 70p, looking at the current exchange rate, roughly $1, and a very happy hamster!
